Matchup Edge

Projects each hitter's quality of contact against a specific pitcher's arsenal. It weights the hitter's xwOBA vs each pitch type (regressed toward his own average) by how often this pitcher throws that pitch to his handedness. The Matchup score and verdict rank by Edge — proj xwOBA vs the hitter's own baseline — so they show who has the best spot today, not just who's the best hitter overall. Proj whiff% flags strikeout risk. Scores are league-relative (≈ 50). Left on auto, the batted-ball floor is a qualification bar (~30% of the league leader's BBE) that rises with the season.
